A solid SBD, don't let the lineage scare you off.  The end of Set III and the encore, if there was one, are missing.

Some sort of discontinuity in Shoot Out The Lights has been improved but not eliminated.  A second gap in the middle of Good Things is hard to find unless you know the lyrics and notice the "I've got a woman" verse is half missing.  A third, at the tape switch during Let The Red Wine Flow, has been improved but at least several seconds are missing.  A final gap, also probably a tape flip, during Last Getaway, has been smoothly crossfaded.

Bruce Barnum was a Deadhead and an avid taper from the early 1980's until his death in 2017 at age 48.  Over the years, he taped dozens of Dead shows throughout the Northeast, as well as other concerts, some of which have not been heard since then.  After his death, about 60 of his master cassettes turned up in a used record store in Hudson, NY, where some had been bought by random people nostalgic for the days of cassettes.  The rest were purchased by a fellow Deadhead and archivist.  Bruce's daughter, Jessica, had more, and was kind enough to lend them to be digitized.  Many of these recordings sound excellent for their age.  They are Bruce's legacy.

Enjoy!

There were"cuts" between several of the tracks, probably someones crowd
noise edits and/or tape flips. I cross-faded them best I could. There is
one in the jam on Harry, cross faded it too, doesn't sound too bad. There
are a few points where one channel gets choppy. The worst was at the end of
Halleys where I mixed it to mono for a short section, it was that bad.
Finaly, to normalize I boosted the first set 2.5 db, and the second set 4.5
db.

badly off-speed, more than a half step sharp. Timings above are from a speed-corrected

"The tenor saxophonist Chris Potter puts enormous force into his sound, and an even greater measure of control. His tone, all over the extended range of the horn, is dry and dark, often brusque: he doesn't purr or warble, and he treats vibrato as a special indulgence, like a dusting of shaved truffles. He's fond of thwarted symmetry and surprising digressions. He knows how to build pressure in a solo, and he does this with such extraordinary technical command that his exertions can feel both heroic and routine."

Welcome to Volume 145 of the "Two Of Us" Master Series.

Between 1983 and 2002 there were not any tapers more active than the "Two Of Us". For the better part of two decades they taped over 250 artists with an array being taped multiple times.

If you collect Springsteen then you are already familiar with some of their work, "fmcleanboots" has posted a half dozen or so of their "Tunnel Of Love" tour shows but has decided to pass the baton

What you don't know is their passion was not just for Springsteen but for music and that passion runs deep. It is astonishing how many artists they taped.

They followed tours taping club shows, theater shows, arena shows, big artists, mid-level artists and local artists.

If they were following a tour and the tour had an off night they'd see who else was playing that night to tape. Always focused on enjoyment of the show as the priority,
tickets were for the most part acquired outside of the venue as they worked to obtain the best possible seats, continually trading up until the correct seats were acquired.

The results of this were the captures are uniformly excellent but on occasion the start of the show was sacrificed as a trade-off for the seats.

The heavy lifting was done by the Sony WM-D6C and an external Shure Mic before moving to DAT for the last couple of years. None of their masters have ever been circulated and
have been safely stored for the past three to four decades in a climate controlled environment. Tapes transferred so far are in pristine condition.

Though we may do some mini releases of a series of shows in order for one portion of a tour for the most part shows will not be released in order, there are just too many of them.

This will be a very exciting series and we hope along the way we upgrade existing circulating audio and offer up shows that do not have any circulating audio, enjoy the ride, this is definitely not a dark ride.

Paul Simon with Art Garfunkel @ Paramount Theater - NYC, NY October 5, 1993

In October 1993 Paul Simon took up residency at the Paramount Theater for a show billed as "The Concert Event Of A Lifetime". What started out as a handful of dates stretched into 21 nights.

It appears only 5 of the 21 shows are in circulating, we are pleased to add a 6th show of this legendary event with the 5th show of the stand, October 5th.

Two Of Us secured their usual excellent taping seats to get an excellent capture of the night's performance. All of the shows were basically the same set with some guest performances.

The last song, "Old Friends", is presumably missing appearing to have closed each night on the previous captures.

Samples and artwork provided.

Thanks to Professor Goody's continuing attention to detail keeping us rolling in the correct pitch week after week.

As always a massive thanks to "Two Of Us" and their dedication to capturing all these legendary performers, the HOURS and HOURS spent waiting in line, traveling, money on tickets as well as trusting me to be the caretaker of their life's work, our little community is indebted to you both. Also, a big thank you to my friend "fmcleanboots" for putting me in touch and laying the groundwork that has resulted in all these great releases...we've barely scratched the surface.
