Dave Brubeck Trio, The Featuring Gerry Mulligan - Blues Roots

So 2 Brubeck w/Mulligan LPs I stumbled upon are quickly becoming my favs, how's that? Neither this or Compadre were ever released on CD, so it was good fortune that after paying for my haul last trip to the crackhouse I then had to wait for Bill to settle his tab. While waiting I made an idle pass through the 'new arrivals' bin, and walked away with a half dozen Gerry Mulligan titles, including the 2 with the Brubeck Trio - SCORE! Of course, I had to pay again, but it's proven worth it.

What Is There to Say
Gerry Mulligan | Format: vinyl

So I made the mistake of having this album playing in the background while I attempt to transcribe my notes from my business trip of last week. However, I keep pulling off the headset to listen to the beginning of each new track as they start in the next room. Finally, I gave up on my notes and just went to the listening area to check this out. This is a quartet featuring no piano player, and Art Farmer on trumpet instead of Chet Baker, and it's very very good. Link to samples below.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - Revelator (CD)

There's a lot of polarized reviews of this album. She sounds alarmingly like Bonnie Raitt, and Derek Trucks is, well himself. Nothing startingly new and innovative here, but it is a pleasant listen.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have  to blow your nose.
