Ella Fitzgerald: Clap Hands, Here Comes Charley

Classic Records 200g LP

Superb SQ! And nothing need be said about the music nor the performance. A definite top of the pile LP.

Warning: This LP has gone out of print and most online sites have jacked the price up to the $75 - 100 range, but Acoustic Sounds and Newbury Comics are still selling it at the original price.

Get 'um while the getting is good.

"...don't be "tripped-up" by the title of this CD - "Folk Music." This CD contains a groovy blend of jazzy-stuff focused around a repertoire of familiar jazz classics, soul, R&B, and popular tunes. Believe me, there is something on this CD for every jazz listener....even those that are new to this music form."

My Way
Frank Sinatra | Format: vinyl

Hit or miss, Frank's "My Way" makes it worth getting.

But what was he thinking on 'Yesterday', and 'Mrs. Robinson' is like Piscopo doing his Sinatra impression. oy!

Hank Mobley

Blue Note 150g LP

I saw a original deep groove mono version of this album go for $4600 today on ebay (yes $4.6K), so I had to listen to it. It's good, but....... $4600????

I'll stick with my $11 Blue Note reissue and if I ever get the urge for higher fidelity I can always grab one of the 45RPM versions for $50, but 4600???

The again, I'm sure the collectors all think we are crazy for spending the kind of money we do on things like cables or vintage NOS tubes, so I guess we're even.

No yodelling?  :duh

Focus always had a classical bent to their music, so I'm not surprised that he would eventually issue something more classical than rock.
