Always fun to fly to SO FL in winter, the heat hits like a wet blast, then all the cold tension melts away. Ahhhhh

You'll need those raybans on south beach, so nobody sees you staring.

I asked her out once when we were 18yo, at Berzerklee. She said she was already taken. I take that to mean she would have, if only...

Got it, good album.

Terrible excuse though, anyway she's not up to your standards.

This is the first brand new vinyl I've purchased in 30+ years. It is a 2009 release on Concord Picante, I think.

Bought from Amazon, they packed it very well, but it is cupped in the center and warped edges, so I'll return it for another copy.

Overall, the SQ is excellent, with some background noise in the grooves, after cleaning. Percussion is dynamic, good tone overall, side A horns too compressed. Side B good horns, but VLF of fender bass is boosted too much. Treble too rolled off on voices. Basically the mix is fucked up, but mostly the music is good enough to ignore it.

The studio recording session is not as musically inspired as their live concert 'Ultimate Latin Dance Party' CD. The arrangements are good. The soloing is uninspired.  Big pops right before the final groove on both sides.

Overall experience 5/10. If it was a CD I would give it 6/10 for the music. The vinyl sound is nice. Cover art is very cool!

Easily one of Morgan's best records, and one of my favorite LPs. Recorded in 1967, the session sat on ice for 11 years until released in 1978 on a double LP combined with a 1969 session that is not nearly as good.

The original session is still available now on CD

Highly recommended if you like Lee Morgan, or any of these sidemen, Shorter, Hancock, Hutcherson, Higgins, Carter. High points for all of them. Great tunes and arrangements.
