The Doobie Brothers: Southbound

Arista CD

A greatest hits collection with each song newly recorded featuring a different guest artist. My mind I have the originals these arrangements are not different or unique enough to justify self space. Not a bad listen if you can get if\t from the library like I did, but IMO also not worth owning unless you are a Doobies completeist.

I thought I would give this one a try because I like all three pieces. But the CD did not thrill me, which shouldn't be a big surprise since I am not a big fan of Von Karajan nor DG recordings.

The Beatles - A Jazz Tribute

A very uneven collection, some tracks OK and others... meh.
The liner notes don't give any indication when the tracks were recorded, but I get the feeling that these are just a bunch of tracks that High Note artists recorded of Beatles tunes that were thrown together to try and take advantage of the Beatles 50th anniversary.
