Yes, that Hugh Laurie. This is Dr. House visits Bourbon St. And this is not a gimick album to cash in of the sucess of his TV show. Laurie is actally a rather accomplished musician.

A glorious celebration of New Orleans blues, 'Let Them Talk' unites Laurie's musical talent with a very personal selection of standards and lost blues classics performed with his band of renowned musicians and some very special guest stars. Produced by Joe Henry and recorded at sessions in Los Angeles and New Orleans, 'Let Them Talk' sees Laurie on vocals and piano heading a team of musicians whose previous collective credits include work with artists as varied as Greg Allman, Solomon Burke, Robert Plant, kd lang, T-Bone Burnett, Alison Krause and John Legend. Together, they interpret and revive songs originally recorded by NOLA blues legends such as Lead Belly, Robert Johnson, Ray Charles and Memphis Slim. Jon Anderson with Todmobile, Live November 2013

In 2013 Jon Anderson appeared with an Icelandic band, Todmobile and a full orchestra.  My first reaction: "No!  Anderson is ancient and Yes' music has always collapsed under its own weight when it dares to merge with an orchestra. Gah!"

Then I clicked the link...why not? 

And...oh, my.  Jon, at age 69, sounds fresh, healthy (finally---good for him) and youthful (we should all be so lucky).  The band Todmobile, of whom I previously  have not heard, prove faithful and meticulous fans of Yes (and prog---the also have appeared with Steve Hackett).  Their arrangement of Awaken is careful, true to the original, smacks only the slightest bit of Scandinavia and is simply glorious. It's better than any live version I could find by the original band.  Todmobile have chops and bring live concert intensity while staying absolutely faithful to the original recording. 

If you are a Yes fan, spend the twenty minutes.  It is well worth it .
