Georg Solti dashes through Beethoven Symphony No. 5 with the Vienna Philharmonic.  I also found his tempi to be unusually fast in his Wagner Ring cycle.

Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Gershwin Songbook
Ella Fitzgerald | Format: vinyl

Bought this Saturday, a white label Verve promo x2 album. But as I'm cleaning the vinyl, according to the labels I have 2 copies of disk 1. Boy, I hope one is mis-labeled and one is actually disk 2.

I've had that happen before.  Here are some other weird things that happened after I tore off the shrink wrap.

1. No CD inside.
2. Wrong CD inside.
3. Vinyl record with two side 1's.
4. Vinyl record with wrong title.
5. Vinyl record with wrong label.
6. Vinyl record with wrong liner notes.

Wife is working late tonight, dinner is done, and I'm in the mood for some vinyl.  Brought down a nice little stack from my bedroom where I store my records.

First up is Gerry Mulligan, Night Lights w/ Art Farmer, Bob Brookmeyer, on original Phillips Monaural LP

Lyrical, swinging, great blowing masters, Mulligan tunes and arrangements at their finest. A few slow tunes keeping with the Night Lights theme, but also some bossa and up tempo stuff. Farmer lets down his hair a little. Mulligan's strong spiritual presence is on full display.

One of the best Blakey albums, with Morgan Shorter, Timmons, Merritt, and everyone is playing at their peak. This band is my fav Blakey lineup.

I need a record cleaner.
