Well this is the LP we all discussed that sold recently for $3600 on ebay (for an orginal deep groove copy), so when I saw this sealed copy at DDs I just had to give it a go. This copy is a 150g reissue and unfortunately both the cover and the record label are exact repilcas of the original issue so there is no indication of who out out this version. Nice SQ, good quality vinyl and of course the music and the performance is first rate. While it is not $3600 worth of music (of course remember that was a collector's price for a 1st edition), this reissue was a steal at $11.

LP reissued by Fantasy as part of their Original Jazz Classics series. For what it's worth, this is the only American issued LP I have ever own that came with an OBI.

WHat is OBI?

An Obi (帯, おび, , literally "sash") is a sash for traditional Japanese dress. From the point of view of records an OBI is usually found on a Japanese pressing of an American (or any other non--Japanese album)  and is about a 2" wide strip of paper that goes around the LP Cover and is used to provide information about the album for the Japanese speaking consumer (At least that's what I assume it is since I don't speak or read Japanese." The OBI is the blue strip can be seen along the left hand side of the LP cover pictured below and there is usually more Japanese writing on the back side as well. Having the original OBI, in good condition, increased the value of a Japanese pressing on the collectors market.

Interesting, thanks for explaining. I hated those things because they obscured the real cover, so I had to discard the plastic wrap to be able to see the whole cover.
