Looking good.Did you remove  lolly columns with a new beam ? Sub panel ? Clg ? Flooring ? Be advised to use a reflective surface to a non reflective surface. Carpet floor sheetrock clg. Acoustic tile wood floor as an example.

Yes I removed the column and installed a new beam. It was a custom product and cost a bundle. have 3 dedicated 20 Amp lines. I am  installing waterproof flooring. The walls are 5/8 moisture resistant. The ceiling is going to be a wood slat I'll find a photo in pintrest and post.

  Almost party time.

Interesting that once I will finally have the space be able to host meetings,  we have these social distancing things to observe. I think this is fairly important since we are in that age group where we are most vulnerable. (Male over 50) I think mini meetings are still the plan until we could relax a bit.

So this is an example photo of something I would like to do

Something to think about Jim. That may not work as well, look as good, in a basement. That's probably a 9 or 10 foot ceiling, and that may feel rather confining when much closer to your head, and it will eat into what's already less than standard ceiling height.

Recommendations on ceiling alternatives

Smooth sheet-rock(?) Mine is putty knife stuccoed, because that's what it was when we moved in, and I just repainted.
Had I gone down to studs in the whole room, instead of just a few patches, I would have gone for smooth.

Barry I actually GAIN height. The old ceiling was furring strips with metal track with ceiling tiles. This will be a single piece of 5/8 wood strip attached directly to joists.

I would tend to agree with Barry. Using SR with proper surface [ paint, stucco, acoust. tile ] allows you to control reflections, absorbtion and all that stuff.
