Just as I suspected, thanks for reporting your impression. I'll stick to my Tu-717, and keep modding it.

Lately I have been dismayed in one aspect of the performance of the 717. A radio show that I enjoy was recently moved to a station that is being blanketed by a powerful pop station. All of my other, more modern radios can filter it out, but not the Sansui.

Doug,

I suspected that you would recommend the Sherwood as I have seen your posts here and elsewhere recently. Since I am a tube guy, I will be looking for a stereo Sherwood s3000 version iv and v.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Ken at Stereo Sturgeons aligned it 2 years ago, but I'll have it checked. Tx

Pete,

I have nothing but a rooftop antenna and the picture I get from over the air Digital TV is better than my next door neighbor gets form the same channels over Cablevision's io service.

Tom

Tom,
Yeah, free HDTV is the way to go!!! I've never contributed to the Dolan's Dynasty & never had a Cablevision subscription! Over the air HDTV is amazing! Too bad they can't get digital right sonically!

Love my McIntosh MR-78... the channel separation and the range of the tuner is amazing...frankly, I don't listen to it too much since there's so much great vinyl to enjoy!

Tom --- how many "Dark Side of the Moon" vinyl pressings do you have? Had a shootout recently with SACD & Mo-Fi versions...pretty interesting...sounded different but which one is right?

May make the next Syndrome meeting...miss guys like you!

Doug,

I finally picked up a Sherwood 3000IV and it should arrive next week.  The seller has already contacted me and says it is in good shape.  He was thinning his herd of tunas also.

Anyway, who would you recommend for working on the Sherwoods should I need to send for updates, etc?
