Analog to Digital converter

I have an older Sony Bravia that still works great picture wise but only has analog audio out.
Am thinking of getting an A to D converter and using probably a superior dac than whats in the tv.
Is this a good thought or am I trying too hard?

You are trying too hard.  TV's are cheaper than good DACs these days + picture quality is better now.  Add to this the fact that it is only analog out - you would need an ADC in addition to a DAC.
