After CAF2025 a pair of the first Ex Machina Soundworks Mira open baffle subs landed at my place.  I helped with the Audio Weaver processing needed for correct OB operation.

Over a year ago, I found a pair of used Magnepan 3.6R speakers in really good condition to purchase at a very good price.  These have an external passive crossover and internal passive crossover sections.

Found the 3.6R crossover schematic online and the original manual.  Modeled the original passive crossover in LTSpice program to look at the response originally intended and modeled it in Audio Weaver. I am only replacing the external part of the passive crossover as these are complicated to dissasemble.

Here is the system getting ready to setup.

Hey Rich,

Am curious what quality materials were used originally and what quality you used for any replacements. Have never used any Maggies.

Nick,
I removed the external passive crossover box in total.  Film caps and iron core inductors in that box for the lowpass filter for the woofer and highpass filter for the midrange and ribbon tweeter system.

I use the dspNexus 2/8 to do the DSP crossover replacement.  This biamps the speakers basically the same way as original, but eliminates the passive components.

The MG3.6R's and Mira OB subs are up and running with the dspNexus 2/8 as the replacement for the original passive crossover.

The Mira OB subs are only sold with or to a customer with a dspNexus system as it is used for the compensation filter needed for the subs to have flat response.

The system is using opamp moded FOSI ZA-3 stereo and V3 Mono amps for each speaker and sub.

Next is listening seat measurements to finish the DSP crossover design in Audio Weaver.
