QuoteEnter the Capacitor King!

I have this friend Mike who is capacitor-fixated. He's not alone. There is a universe of capacitor fetishists out there.

Just remember the big capacitor goes in the front and not the back

Jim, is that you by the beach near your house? Having a good summer I see! Now put down the beer and get back to the gym.   :duh
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have  to blow your nose.

Busted   It does look like my overly-generous backside; I'll have to switch to boxers.    Take care, Bob

Coolio Mike, like you a big fan of part selection. Nelson Pass and Lew Johnson are also big fans of synergy and quality of parts.
Now PIO caps in general are colored warm. The Duelund CAST to my ears are more neutral in presentation overall. Finding the right combo of cap and tube used is must consideration.
For an example lets take my Consonance 211 amps. When using an RCA 211 the V-Cap was coupling cap was the Cat's meow. however when changed to a GE 211 you want to hit it with a hammer. Putting a Jenson PIO [ ceramic body ] the GE sounded great.
What I'm saying is no cap fits all. Another issue is break in. most do not properly break in the cap before deciding about it.
From my experience these large dielectric filled caps take 400 hours to stop changing. One can easily make a premature judgement and miss the benefit of the design. Be patient. Same for new components.

I believe Bob M. has discovered this as well.

Charles I agree with you 100 percent...but that was before the Jupiter copper foil came out.

You should try it....you might edit your post

The other caps had colorations that we would use to season our sound, the Jupiter copper is so natural sounding it is as if there is NO cap in there, so if you don't like the sound of those GE's ....well maybe it is because they don't sound good.
Using a cap to flavor a tube I think is a bad way to react in audio,
tubes loose their sound over time, they change...the caps will change very little over time in comparison.

Try the Jupiter and forget breakin. Yes they will breakin but they sound great right out of the box.

All the speed and openess and refinement of teflon with all the natural tone and textural harmonics intact. best of both worlds if you ask me, no stripping of harmonics like teflon, much more like real music, less hifi

you should try them
System consists of an amp a preamp, 2 speakers a turntable and a phono preamp, Also some cables and power cords and a really cheap cd player.
