Oh man, I have really been struggling over which cable to try, Violet vs. the Silver.  In my email with John he feels that the Silver is slightly warmer vs. a more neutral Violet.  From other things I have read the midrange is slightly more forward on the violet.  Funny thing is I am not really sure if I want more warmth or not, but I definately know that I do not want more midrange in my system.

I have a lot of Consonance gear that already has a strong midrange.

My gear to be powered:

Modwright swl 9.0se
Consonance Cyber 800 tube monoblocks
Consonance ref 2.2 MKII tubed cd player

Anyway it looks like I am down for 2 silvers for the amps.  I am Canadian and will put the order in tomorrow using the email link you have provided.

Now give me some support that I am making the correct decision :D

Thank you to both, those involved, and to those that purchased, so we could get  such a great deal.

Please include me in on the group buy.

Also, I didn't see this addressed in the previous posts so maybe someone can fill me in, will BSC still be honoring it's 45 day return policy?  Not that I think any will go back....

Thanks,
Dean

Hi Carl,

I need to change my request from the Silver Ref to the Violets.
Just corresponded with John(great guy btw) and he recommends the Violet Z1 for my Classe CAM-350s.

So I will be ordering (3) 6' Violet Z1 cables(and saving a bunch of cash as well  :o )!

Thanks,
Dean

Hey Dean,

I also have Classe Cam-350's, and I am curious what John mentioned to you about the Violet?

Thanks

Doug,

The Silver Reference MKV is what I normally recommend for amps but given Dean's overall system I felt that a power cord that stays out of the way (neutral) would be the way to go in his case.

I'm a former Classe owner myself and really enjoyed both the Ref and the VZ1 but if you are happy with your overall sound now, go neutral and go with the VZ1. If you want the Blackest possible background and don't mind a bit of warmth, then go with the Ref.

Does that help or did I just make your decision tougher?
:D

Far be it for me to disagree with John, but I recommend you fellas try both in your system if/when you have an opportunity.

I haven't tried the Violet, but the Silver Refs are exceedingly neutral in my system.  In fact, they replaced a cord some describe as being slightly warm (myself included, but it was nice ), and the additional clarity and realness was immediately evident upon using the Silver Refs.  As it turned out, I didn't need artificial warmth in my system as much as I needed a cable that didn't allow the mids to harden or the highs to get edgy.  The Silver Refs did that and a whole lot more.

Again, I don't necessarily disagree with John; I haven't heard the Violet, and the amps in question are known to him (not me).  That said, all this is system dependent, and depending on your source, pre-amp, speakers and other cabling, you may not have the same needs or realize the same results.  What I *do* know is what I hear in *my* system, and the only warmth I hear is that created by the music.

I should have just stuck with my standard line last night (teach me for posting at darn near 2:00am!):

Everything is system dependant! What sounds warm in one system, may sound completely neutral in another! Everybody needs to keep that in mind.

Hi John,

Sorry if I ignited a powder keg...not my intent to confuse potential buyers.

I would assume most that have spent any time in the pursuit of audio excellence would have figured out by now it's all about "synergy".  As I was lucky enough to have amps that you were familiar with, you were able to give me your opinion on what "might" work better in this application.  For anyone to draw a boilerplate assessment re your cables would in my opinion be a big mistake.

As they say..."try before you buy"; this is probably why you(and others) offer home trial periods!!  8)

Carl,

I sent you a pm last week, but never got a reply so I thought I'd try here.

If there's still time, I'd like to order (3) violets - 6ft long in black.

Thanks for all of the work.

Carlman

FYI, I had some unexpected work and travel was involved... so, sorry I have not gotten back to everyone.

It's going to take me a few days to get this completely organized.

One thing that would REALLY help...

If you have made any changes to you order, Or, did not send all the info needed to complete the order, please send a new email and be sure to include the word "final order" in the subject with the following info:
AN username:
Name and Address:
Cable Model:  Length:  Color:
Total: (See website, minus 35%, plus $5/ea per cable, plus 3% for Paypal)
Payment Method: (MO or Paypal is OK, check is ok if I know you or we've chatted about it.)

Thank you very much... Please be patient with me... it'll be a couple of days before I get the final order ready... and I'll need to post it here to be sure everyone is cool with what I've got.... and it's a LOT of cables at this point... Anyone that wants to help, PM me now!

Carl

P.S. Bobrex, and anyone else that's asked, yes, you're in... but after midnight tonight, that's the end of the GB.
I really enjoy listening to music.

I placed my order (2 silvers) today with BSC.  If I am the only Canadian it looks like I'll get them first.  :P   :)

Thanks,
Mike
