Mapleshade TT mod

We heard an Oracle that was rebuilt on a 4ft long piece of maple 4" thick sitting on huge brass feet.  The platter was placed in the plinth with a custom ebony and brass bearing assembly. The resonance of the plinth [ least resonant point] was measured to determine the location of such. A high torque custom motor and a ultra fine silk string spin the platter. Nano mounts at the cart, arm and record support decouple the arm , cart, and record from each other. A custom battery powered SS phono stage as well with handmade resistors and caps. A work of art that is functional and sounds real. A Lyra Helikon was the cart.
So got me thinking. I have a Linn LP12 with lingo and all the mods except the Keel. Linn wants $3300 for the Keel[ "F" them]. $3300 will give me a new TT for goodness sake.
We will see what Mapleshade can do for that money instead. were talking a Maple plinth out board motor and machining a groove i the platter to accommodate a pulley and motor setup. The Lingo power supply will be encased in ebony and modded accordingly to run off batteries. A new arm will replace the Ittock 2 or modded. Any suggestions. Leaning towards a Grahm maybe SME.

I'd like a battery powered motor for my table

Hi Charles,

You know I love helping others spend money (as you've helped me).
Sounds like your planning up to 5K on revamping your linn.  I'm not a big Linn fan, so,

A quick look on Agon for 5K:

VPI TNT 5  for 4300:

Oracle Premier w Triplanar arm for 3600

Lots of interesting choices in that range.  Maybe a Redpoint as well?

Anyway, just a reminder to keep an open mind before pulling the trigger.
