New GIK Diffuser

Well, we backed off the original wood diffusers as the cost was just too high. We've invested in the proper machinery to be able to do these in house now and really keep our costs in check.

We haven't finalized the retail on it yet but looking between $350 and $400 per unit.  Glenn is running a preorder for these at $299.

Even if you're not interested at this time, please give me a little feedback on what you think.

Well, it looks beautiful! Hard to believe you can sell all that finished woodworking for 300 bucks. I know it's a preorder so get em while they're new.

How low/high will this guy diffuse?   What are the rough dimensions?

IIRC, they're approx 19.5"x46"x6".

They will scatter starting at about 350Hz, truly diffuse at 500Hz up to 3500Hz and then scatter up to around 6kHz.

I think it will be more acceptable too.  It's hard to find that point between finish and price to be a viable product.  We had one before that was really nice but it was going to run like $800 per unit.  I think this is much more affordable and still looks really nice.

They're also built to be non-symmetric so you can do them in mirror imaged pairs by turning one over.

You might wish to consider an unfinished version or one that is painted with primer for folks wishing to match their wife's ideas of decor...

We can certainly provide it unfinished though the wood will be the same, just not sealed.  Can easily be painted.

Unfinished wood would match my livingroom perfectly.     Can you make it from MDF and hardboard?

So what's the best place to put phase grating diffusion... Is it the rear wall behind the listeners?

Depends on the room and the speakers.  They work great behind OB/Dipole speakers to enhance soundstage width like we did at RMAF.  They also work well on the rear half of the side walls to open up the rear soundfield.
