Oppo BDP 83SE

I was poking around the Oppo web site looking for information on their new BDP 93 BluRay play (adds BluRay 3D capability) and I came across this statement about the 83SE - "Due to a shortage of major components used to manufacture the BDP-83, we have ceased production of this model."

I look for further details on the Oppo site and elsewhere on the web and came up empty. Has anybody hear what the shortage is?  I know they discontinued production of the base level 83 when the 93 came out. maybe they just can't justify production costs to keep the 83SE line going on it's own.

This has got to be a big blow to the high end companies that were selling modified (or just repackaged) versions of the SE.

I wonder of they will be coming out with a Sabre chip equipped version of the 93.

In the mean time, the price of the 83SE has skyrocketed. I looked it up on amazon and the price has jumped to $1400 and up.

It's my understanding that Oppo has moved away from the 'SE' designation, and the '95' is the 'SE' version of the '93'. The '95' isn't scheduled for release until a few months after the '93'. The place to get the most up to date info appears to be AVS Foums...

It is kind of funny that all of this information is out on the web, but the oppo web site itself says nothing about the 95. (Of course you would somehow need to know to search for BDP 95 as opposed to looking for a 93SE like I did.  )
