I will be away so I cannot go, in case any one of you are interested in a 2hr30 long performance of Handel Messiah and then you can compare later at home with the Linn HD version

Dec 14th in Morristown, NJ or you can also go to Carnegie Hall

Darn, Quoc, I thought you were mentioning it 'cos it's a freebie.  Never been to a live Messiah, just being lazy I guess.  May be this year it'd be my breakthrough (from the laziness!) :thumb: since you're bringing it up.

I don't know what the hall sounds like, but tickets for the performance in Morristown are quite reasonable (approx/ 1/2 the cost of the prices at Carnegie Hall).

Remember, it's all about the music........

t is very rare to be able hear a full Messiah performance, most performances only cover a portion. To bring together voices from 100 persons for 150 minutes will not be easy.

The chorus is a non profit and members essentially participate because they love singing baroque, like NYAR....

I have not heard the chorus (nor am I affiliated). I know a former colleague, she is now retired and sings in the chorus. The NYT wrote their Messiah performance is a Christmas tradition at Carnegie Hall, that must be a compliment I assume.

I have the Linn HD full performance of this Handel masterpiece which is a superb recording, I do not understand a single word - they sing in "latin"

Note that the concert is a memorial for David Randolph.  As far as I can recall, he had conducted many, many Messiahs, at Carnegie, or Avery Fisher... Their annual Messiah usually is/was advertised in the NYT.
