This is just a quick impression, of the above cable.

Thanks to a quick trip (yesterday afternoon) to my 'local' (1.5 hr away) audio pimp...SHANE "The Home-Theatre Doctor"...I picked up one each of the JPS SC3 digital and their new SC3 USB cable.

Well, color me AMAZED !!! I just pulled the digital cable (RCA) out of the box and plugged it into the SPDIF out of my computer and into the PS Audio DAC III SPDIF in (with no break-in). The background of the music was immediately quieter, there was better resolution, better 'imaging' and definitely improved tonality and harmonics. It even made some songs/recordings...listenable, whereas before the prior 'shrillness' would require pressing the 'skip' button, quickly. If this further improves, with break-in time, then I'm going to be exceedingly happy.

For a bit of background; I have been using a 2006-7 HP desktop computer, running Windows XP media center OS...with a Seagate USB external drive holding all of my 'flac-ed' music files. I have switched back-and-forth between SPDIF output and USB output...into the DAC, and I could never hear enough difference to choose one over the other. Now, I had tried an older JPS digital cable for SPDIF, but only your average cheap USB cable, for USB...still there was little difference.

Having listened to a number of $$$$ DAC's at our different local NC G2G's, I was of the opinion that my PS Audio DAC III was the weak link in my system, and one day I would need to replace it. However, the thought of spending several thousand dollars wasn't so very attractive.

Serendipity intervenes and now my $700 DAC sounds amazingly good. So, investing in a good cable may wind up saving me thousands...who would have thunk it .

Sorry Rich, unless there is some serious color shift in the photo on the JSP web site the USB cable is red.  :(

Remember, it's all about the music........

Looks like the usual SC3 purple. It is not really purple, but "the purple wires" is my term of endearment for them.  Thanks for the pic Tom!

Hm, I will definitely give the USB cable a listen sometime.. :)

thanks a lot Steve.  I've been doing just fine with my JPS UC2 digital cable, and now you have to mention how nice the SC3 is...   you're welcome to send it to me for a week for some "break in"

Rob S.

PS.....   Where's the pictures of your new tube integrated/ speaker combo?
No new money spent on audio!!  but starting in 2012!!

thanks for the suggestion,  note it has now been changed.   I'll have you know I've worked very hard at not buying any gear, but some equipment is just needed, I don't know how to splain it.   just ask stereophool- he knows what i'm talkin' bout.

Also, I have enjoyed my local crack house immensely, probably >200 albums in the last year.  And my buddy Richidoo was kind enough to help me with some classic jazz (although not at crack house prices)

Hi, Carl!

I have been listening to the SC3 digital SPDIF/RCA. I haven't even tried the USB, yet...I thought I would wait a couple of weeks before I tried it.

Maybe after all of the baby/massage/new stuff in your life settles...and whenever we have another G2G, then I can bring both with me...for us to 'sample'/play with  :).
