With sooooo many exhibitors, I got burn out kind of.  So, I quit early Sunday.  You get mental burn-out.  After visiting sooo many rooms, your memory just gets blurry.  It's reeeeallllly a great event to hang loose!!!!!!!!  :yay2:

Think there'll be another such show coming up in NYC soon?  I saw something somewhere?  But.... the NYC show will NOT, NOT be anything close, I bet!

Yeah, it may be at the same location as earlier this year, the South Gate (used to be called, at least) around 30th St. and 7th Ave. (?).  That one was largely disappointing.  If it is like that, then I'll just fergit  'bout it.  Save up for next year's RMAF .

No, it will be at the Waldorf.  Same people who runs the T.H.E.  Show in LV and LA.

Wow, Waldorf?  Hate to be a nay-sayer.  Ain't gonna be better/cheaper than RMAF for sure. Last time at the Southgate was a BIGGGGG disappointment.  NY prices probably will scare away many potential exhibitors?

Hugh

Exactly.

We won't be there. :)

Yeah I can only imagine that's going to end up being a high-end only show.  There's no way it won't be exorbitantly expensive. I suppose the super high population density and higher concentration of buyers "of means" may make up for it at some point, but going the first year will be a pricey risk to take.

I am starting to think that all of these shows are becoming counter-productive. Given the costs of displaying at these shows and the current state of both the economy in general and the industry in particular, companies simply cannot afford to do all these shows. And as a result they must choose to attend only a small number of the shows, which causes the vendor and manufacturer communities to spread themselves thin which  makes these shows less and less useful to us as consumers.

I know that the show organizers are only trying to make a buck for themselves, but I think this is one of those areas where more is not necessarily better.
Remember, it's all about the music........

There was an editorial in one of the industry rags that proposed the premise that shows are fast becoming the only way someone can actually hear a bunch of different equipment before making a purchase decision. Now that dealerships are closing everywhere he may be correct.

Unfortunately the systems are not optomized, you can hardly play music you know for any length of time, you may not be in a sweet spot, you can;t change out anything for comparative purposes, and everything in the system is unfamiliar to you so you have no clue what component is contributing what to the sound. Plus most of these systems are uber expensive and attempting to push the state of the art in a small hotel room with competing systems thumping in the background and questionable power supplied.

I think rollo is on to something ... representing manufacturers in a local area for home demo's. If only he can franchise this idea in some profitable fashion.

That's not entirely new, isn't that what Neal (don't recall his SN) is doing out on the Island(?)

It is not new but forgotten. There is nothing better than an in home demo with your own system.
Either you like it or you do not. No fee for demo, no aggressive salesman. Audiophiles serving Audiophiles.
Cost of gear will be less than a typical brick and mortar as well. We do not work on 40 to 50% profit either.
As of now we Rep, Nightshade Audio, Soundfield, Lenehan,Ribbontek, PI Audio, Triode Wire Labs, Pon-tunes, Analysis, Kuzma, Muse with more to come.
Besides new gear we demo previously owned gear as well. Coming soon NOS tubes, cables, records and a showroom. Oh my !!!
PS; you gotta hear what the PI Audio Uberbuss with Triode Wire Labs cords can do. Schedule a home demo today.

Well, I don't know about other rooms at the shows but, at least in our own room, we've tried to accommodate as much as we could by encouraging attendees to use their own music in our setup.

This way, they'd know exactly what they're hearing. :)

Furthermore, we all have our own showroom at home and have been operating as such for the last 3 years or so.

I guess we must have seen the writing on the wall way back then. ;) :D
