QuoteThe majority of us still frequent A/C. I for one don't post there anymore even though I do read it but some people feel they need to make there spin posts on both F*****G forums.

I have to admit I'm at a loss as to why Evan even begins to care that I and some others post on 2 forums. Quilty as charged. But I have many friends at A/C who enjoy what I post on "What LPs have you listened to recently." I receive many PMs on my selections asking about those LPs which I'm happy to answer. I never pay attention or even care as to were others post. I simply read what I like and pass over the rest. I've made friends on both sites and it would foolish of me to aviod one or the other because of the guy who runs the other site. I will never understand why anyone would care where I or what I post.

Hence the new name here should be Music Nervosa. Bill you like what you like and I like what I like. Still love ya even though you drive me fucking crazy. But I need to move on for my own interests.

Evan I'm trying hard to understand but I'm afraid I don't. No matter what you end up doing I truly hope you find something that gets your motor going again.
Peace brother.............Bill

AN's primary purpose is to share the joy of music listening on high end gear, not to worship audio gear like every other hifi forum. The music thread started by Chris is an important part of who we are. It really is about the music here, but we tolerate audiophiles.  8)

Hover your mouse over the AudioNervosa banner at the top of every page, you will see Carl's codeword for the site.

I have posted several times over the last couple years and twice this week how to avoid seeing the flood of music thread subject lines, by bookmarking the "New Posts" link. Then you will only ever see one entry of "What are you listening to now" and can ignore it. It's easy to avoid if you want to.

Not back yet.

Not left yet either.

Look Evan, I'm, not trying to push you out the door.  But the very fact that you are continuing to come back here and post after having said no less than three times that you are moving on clearly suggests that you are conflicted about your choice.

I've read through your posts several times in the thread and I still don't understand what you expect out of AN or what you want from us (meaning the members).  Please, don't try to explain because I really don't want to know and I have already spent more of my time than I care to just thinking about it.

Perhaps you just need a break from AN.  Taking some time away from here might give you some perspective.  If you really miss it then come back if that is what you want.  I know when I left AC there were a total of two people that I really, really missed.  But leaving was without a doubt the right move for me.  I made the decision and was gone, and I haven't posted there since.

I'd rather that you stay, but not if you're unhappy here.  Life is too damn short...

Maybe if someone is going to post a half dozen or so albums in succession, they do it in one post rather than in an individual post for each album(?)  I usualy post one album in each post because I tend to post as I'm listening, so I only post 2 or 3 albums in an evening, and there's half hour to an hour between each post, so it doesn't fill up the board.

I think this is one of the reason for the irritation...I can't for the life of me fathom why one cannot post one or two post with with the 6 or 8 albums they have listened to during the past few hours...posting albums you claim to list to every 3-5 minutes is like 'spamming', no way one can listen to a hour of music in 2-3 minutes...

Fill in the blanks.....

Well I'm going to go out on the limb here but maybe the thread title "What are you listening to right now?" just might have something to do with single album posting. The thread doesn't say "What have you been listening to for the last 8-10 hours?" I mean anyone who has a problem with the number of consecutive number of posting in that thread really needs to get a life. There's nothing real about this "mama drama" stuff. Find something real to piss n' moan about for christs sake.

But I will admit all this continuing drama queen BS makes for good reading and I for one fully intend on picking up my album posting, IF for no other reason than to listen to ya'all whine about it.

Damn it feels good to be posting again!  :thumb:

Well now, I see that you're thread starter Chris. Should have known it was all your fault for wanting to know what everyone was listening to right now.

Considering songs are usually 3-4 minutes long, how can you expect the posts NOT to build up quickly?  8)

You reap what you sow with that thread title ole' boy.  ;)

Fill in the blanks.....

Since you were all probably looking at my posts posts when you wrote this let me fill in the blanks and clear up why I post the way I do. First off I only put one album in each post to make it easier for people to respond to the posts. If you put 5 or six albums each with cover pics in a post  it gets physically long on the screen and takes up a good amount of storage on the server. While this is not a big deal if the post is a stand alone item, if people start to respond to it and the whole post gets quoted over and over (even if someone is just making a comment on one album) it just gets very cumbersome. So since this is a discussion group I chose to post in a way that made it more convenient to have those discussions. I felt that doing it this way was fixing one problem and evidently other people feel it creates a different problem. I just chose one way for what I felt was a logical reason. This is not the first time we have had this discussion (although I realize that the previous discussions may have been with different participants) and back then I said that I was open to other ideas if the group wanted to come to a concensus about posting "standards" to the allbum threads and nobody really came up with any better ideas so I kept posting that way.  But it just seems that if I fix one problem it just creates a different one for another set of people. I think this is one of those  cases of you can't please all of the people all of the time, but I'm open to suggestion's if somebody has any ideas.

As for posting in batches that is just a matter of my personal circumstances. No I do not listen to six albums in a 10 minute time span, I agree that is a ridiculous proposition. The posting of batches comes about for two reasons, first off I do not have the luxury  of a computer in my listening room. The audio system is in the basement while the computer is in my home office on the second floor.  Given that for me to submit a post about what I am listen to in real time I would have to interupt my listen to go upstairs, write the post and then go back to the listening. In addition to just being plain inconvenient, to keep interrupting my listening session to make posts end up being a real buzz kill. Part of what I strive for in my system it to achieve an emotional connection with the music and this is certainly hard to maintain when you are running up and down  flights of stairs to shoot of an AN post. So I end up listening to a whole bunch of music and the run Bing off a batch of posts when it is convenient to take a break for that or another reason. Also that computer is a shared family resource so there are many times thateven though I am ready to post up a few albums, one of my boys is working on a school project and I cannot get to the computer anyway.  So it is not that I am listening to six albums in 10 minutes, but rather that it has been six albums since I way ready, or able to put up any more posts. This is far different from spamming.

I have learned all kinds of great things from the "What are you listening to now?" thread. Just like we all have varied systems, we all have different tastes and interests in music. Reading posts in that thread has opened my eyes to new artists, new labels and even whole new types of music (or even just remind me of some lost gem that has been hiding unplayed in my rack for some time.) Reading recommendations from other ANers has gotten me to try music that I had seen in the stores but just ignored for years. As much as I like to read about and keep on top of developments in the hardware end of the hobby, the reality of my situation (and I suspect most other people as well) if that given the price of high end audio equipment I am lucky if I can make a hardware investment once or twice a year, while I listen to music 365 days a year. From a practical stand point expanding my musical horizons and finding new sources of good sounding and musically satisfying source material will do far more to increase the day to day enjoyment  of my system than obsessing over equipment. And given how much I have gotten  out of other members' posts I feel like I should pay back the group by posting up any new finds I have come across in the hope that one of my posts my spark and idea in another readers mind. Not that I don't like to read about and discuss equipment issues, but I spend far more time play my system that playing with it. YMMV. I have plenty of friends who are exactly the opposite and would be perfectly happy owning a dozen "reference quality" recordings and doing nothing but using them to evaluate new pieces of gear. And if that's what makes them happy I have no problem with that. But that is just not reflective of my the world that I live in right now. Hey, to each his own.  8)

This is unfortunately out of hand. Locking it until I have some time to go through see what all needs to be done.

I have been swamped with work so I've just read through 3pages of interesting posts.
I value everyone here and genuinely appreciate the support and good advice. AN is what YOU all make it. And so far I am very happy with what our community has made it.

Saying you're leaving a hifi site because it's too music focused is the biggest compliment I've received.

Thank you to all that share their musical experience so we can deepen our enjoyment of audio while refining what we crave. :)

Thanks for locking, Bryan, it was time.
I really enjoy listening to music.
