So how did it go?

Curious minds want to know!

Guess it was a sunny day, so the turnout was less than anticipated.  Tons of food left.  Some of us had to take home food.  Thanks to Deepak and family.

As usual, it was great.  We had several Melody amps, 2 preamps, a 845-based monoblock power amp (21 watts), Onix CD player, 3 setups, the main attraction in the basement, a surround home theater setup on the street level, and another Melody integrated amp setup upstairs.  I'll let the others fill in on the event.  I didn't take any pictures, sorry.  Martin and others did though.  So, more should be coming up.

Thanks again Deepak and Hugh. All that planning and preparation and shipping of equipment, and a 10 page thread leading up to the day ... then a sorry turnout. Where were all you NJ guys? There were more LI and CT people than anyone local! Shame on you.

OK, it's a busy season, I get it.

Anyway, we all had a great time. I made it about 1/10th of the way through the $1 bin at Princeton records and still racked up a nice stack of vinyl to clean and play over the holidays. Those Melody pre's and amps sura are nice looking. They sound great and at a reasonable price too. The digital setup with that $300 DAC upstairs with the big Zu's sounded very nice indeed. Far better than playing CD's through that rig. That little DAC sure tamed them. The main system downstairs had it's share of an audience too. Some of us fell asleep and added to the ambient noise (Campy!) but it was a mighty enjoyable time in a very comfy room.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas all.

Deepak and his family were very gracious hosts. (BTW - Your house is beautiful.) Way too much food, but then again a lot smaller turnout than expected.  A lot of us took home "doggie-bags" of food or dessert.  I'm sure my wife's 5th. grade class will go crazy when they see the huge container of holiday sprinkle cookies arrive tomorrow!

Hugh's "Melody" gear sounded really, really nice... and all of it  looks beautiful as well.  Kudo's to both Hugh & Deepak for planning all of this out. One suggestion to Deepak... take those all too comfy couches out of the downstairs listening room so your guests don't fall asleep so easily!  (Sorry for the ambient noise, but I was really trying to provide "white noise" to acoustically balance the room out!!!  LOL)

We had a great time.  I'm glad I made the trip.

A great day had by all. Deepak and family thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
The Melody gear is the real deal.  Gorgeous gear for the eye and ears. Meeting Hugh in a relaxed atmosphere was a treat. A gentleman in spades. He was correct about the Chinese stock 845s. Sounded just fine the way they were implemented.
Thanks again for a fun time.

Ditto... what the "Snoring Nut" said...

Thanks to Deepak and his family once again for great hospitality!!!

I had a wonderful time... wish we lived closer & I could stay later... got home 3 hours later...

The Angel City / Melody gear was extremely musical and appeared to have fantastic build quality & definitely had Eye Appeal!!!

I was impressed with Hugh's prototype DAC & HAL's (Rich's) MS-1 (was very impressed at RMAF as well!)

It was great seeing everyone & we should do this more often!

Happy Holidays,
Pete

Deepak,

Thank you for a very enjoyable time.  You have a wonderful family, very gracious and accommodating.
The food was excellent and as others have said plentiful.

I really enjoyed listening to the Melody gear.  The 845 monos were the bees knees .  However, I think the impedance mismatch between the 16 ohm ZU's and the amps didn't show their best.  The prototype switching amp was clearer and more defined esp. in the midrange.
The KT88 integrated with larger Zu's upstairs was excellent, very melodic. :thumb:
It was fun to see familiar faces that I hadn't seen in a long time.  I also met Hugh Nguyen from Angel City Audio.  A very nice person who made a long trip to just to be with us.  Thanks Hugh.
Deepak, thank you again for a wonderful afternoon and evening.

          Happiest of Holidays to everyone!!

Definately something weird going on between the Zu's and the 845s, made music sound congested. Switching to a class D amp cleared the congestion, but then the music was too 'lean' after hearing the 845s.

Thanks to Deepak and Chhaya for the hospitality, had 2 huge hunks of blueberry coffee cake this morning for b-fast, good eating.

Was sorry I missed the LI guys rolling out as I arrived, but I did get a late start to the day.

And a genuine pleasure meeting Hugh and his son, and hearing the Trinitys.
