Does anyone know of a N.Y. Audio Labs Moscode 600 Owner Forum anywhere on the web?

That would be a pretty specific forum.  Are there that many issues with it? ;)
I really enjoy listening to music.

LOL  no Carl!  Actually, considering the piece I bought has to be 20+ years old and the last time Mr. Kaye had his hands on it for upgrades for a previous owner was 1996, it sounded pretty damned good when I got it home!  Tmazz can vouch for me here 'cause he's heard it (mine) and he says it's quieter than his old 600 which is being used by his son Bobby now.

I posted the question only because I was wondering what were the best sounding pre-amp combo's being used by Moscode 600 users.  My Naim Pre-amp surprisingly sounds pretty good with the Moscode 600 (although it was only compared to a handful of other pre-amps so far before being sent up to VT) but I can't help but wonder "how can I make things sound even better!?!"

What kind of Nervosian would I be if I didn't intend to continue my pursuit of audio bliss and look further? ;)  So, with that being said... once I get my amp back from George Kaye after being "freshened up" and having the one last remaining upgrade (MIT Coupling Caps) that it didn't have in it yet finished, my next step will be "pre-amp hunting"!!! :thumb:

Unless all Moscode 600 users are cloned from the same DNA fabric, one would surmise that opinions on this would be all over creation.

Most definitely, AJ!  I figured that if I got some feedback on this (pardon the pun) it would at least give me a starting point.  Of course, the proof in the pudding is getting to hear different pieces of gear in one's own system.  Like Kojak once said, "Synergy, baby!"

Unfortunately, we don't always have the luxury of "auditioning" before buying.  I'll be better able to see (hear) what's works (sounds) best once my Moscode 600 comes back from George Kaye and I can continue to borrow as many pre's as I can get my hands on. :thumb:

Why not ask George Kaye for a suggestion ? He is pretty familiar with it I would think.
Next up is a budget for the Preamp. Then there is convenience meaning tubed or SS.
The only preamp that i believe is similar to the Naim in presence and jump factor is the Nightshade Beacon. Priced right and sounds great. For SS either the Dude or Miracle Audio. For less expensive SS Parasound or a used Klyne.
If you decide to go tubed remember the cost of NOS tubes and their replacement. The beauty of the Beacon is two tubes or three at most.
Most important is wether you will use a dedicated phonostage or use a full function preamp with phono. That opens up another can of worms. Will you be content with a built in phono ? If so look for an older CAT preamp.
The saga begins. My best advice is keep the choices limited as well as auditioning. Meaning everyones opinion.

I thought of that (asking George Kaye) and then figured he'd automatically suggest one of his pre-amps.  Maybe the next time I talk to him I'll ask anyway!?!?

In the meantime, I appreciate your suggestions.  I am hoping to keep things simple and not go to a separate outboard phono section, but I'll approach that as I look into pre-amps.  I'm very glad you reminded me of keeping the tube configurations in mind if I decide to go tubes vs. SS.

The quest (eventually) will continue. :thumb:

Well, I talked to Mr. Kaye today about my Moscode 600 and then asked his opinion on pre-amps to go with it... just as I surmised, he suggested his own "Minuet in A" pre-amp. :duh

Once I get the 600 back, I'll start back on the pre-amp trail. :thumb:

TRL Dude or
First Sound

don;t know your budget but these are hard to beat for any money
Bill if you are serious...and want to get off the audiophile merrygoround, and concentrate on buying music instead of gear.
Everyone recommends the gear they own, I recommend the stuff i want to own, because i want off this crazy thing Jane!
System consists of an amp a preamp, 2 speakers a turntable and a phono preamp, Also some cables and power cords and a really cheap cd player.

Thanks, Mike. :thumb:

I'm trying to keep my pre-amp budget around $1000.00 to $1200.00.  I may be able to stretch it a bit further $$$ if it really is something that does get me off the merry-go-'round!  I'd most likely buy used so I could get a better piece than what my dollars would get me new. [-o<

BTW - What kind of used prices do the TRL Dude and First Sound pre's go for?  Also, do they have phono stages?  I rather not complicate things with an outboard phono set-up if (?) possible.
