Jane Monheit - Venue Question

Want to take the kids to see Jane Monheit who is playing at Birdland in May and Blue Note in Nov. 2013.  Which venue has good sound and kid friendly.  Priority would be for a kid friendly place.

I may be blasphenous... but I prefer Birdland... Blue Note seating area is long, skinny and really cramped from what I remember. We were tucked in the back and I was constantly creaking my neck to try watch.

I've only been once to both places so... take that with a grain of salt.

Agree. 

Birdland is much more spacious with great sight lines.  I saw Toshiko Akiyoshi at Bidland and sat at the bar.  Great view.  Great sound.  Regular seating looked comfortable as well. (Akiyoshi was concise, the band was spot on, Lew Tabackin was frustratingly noodly and insistent on being in the spotlight.)

Blue note is much tighter.  I had the pleasure of seeing Carmen McRae at the Blue Note as well as the good fortune of sitting at the very front of the long tables.  My right foot was literally inside the kick drum of the kit.  Carmen sat on a stool in front of the stage and there was barely enough room for the piano, bass and drum set. (Carmen could sing the warning on a pack of cigarettes and make it sound soulful.  She was totally in the performance.)
