Sooooo whats the slew rate on those babies

Haven't measured that, but the noise floor with zero signal is 0.19mV, not bad considering all the stuff in the box! Frequency response is 10Hz to the limit of my sound card at 1/2 power, lower in the bass at lower power.

Thanks Max
have no idea what you just wrote or what a slew rate is

I remember reading about it in my Audio Review days with Julian Hirsch

In that case, the slew rate is 1.41 gigavolts/uS!

Hi Max

Where will your SET Monoblocks reside in your system? Will you put them on fancy audiophile amp stands in between the Infinity Speakers?

Will you need one of these to put them in place? ;)

Also for all the electricity they consume will you fabricating special power cords for them?

Sorry for all the stupid questions I just haven't seen amps like these ever.

Maxamillion did you ever hear those 833TNT amps oft-seen at the audio shows?  I found them very tubey sounding, not clean and clear like yours.

Infinity RSIIb, rebuilt by me with external crossovers and new EMIM diaphragms from Apogee Acoustics.

Grills Off:

Nice. Still regret selling my IIIbs. Mine were circa 1984. Those babies liked a lot of power.

Those commercial guys all go for low voltage (under 1kV), high current, positive bias, pure class A2 operation, probably for liability reasons. That's not where these tubes like to be...they like multi-kilovolt, lower current operation, where it's also easier to make a good SET gapped output transformer with decent primary inductance. My amps are class A1 up to 40 watts before they go into A2. Very punchy.

Actually, we have end tables to match the media center, and the tops are exactly 18" x 22", the same size as the amps...I was "encouraged" to make that happen, so to speak. The tables handled my 230lbs sitting on them with no issues, so it looks like they'll hold up...

Maybe Pete can make me some special TWL powercords.

After I build the second monoblock (just starting on it now).

If you had to price them considering all your time and parts cost,
what would you price these at?

Parts alone cost about $11k for the pair. Then add in about two-three months of my time. I'd price them at $70k per pair, and that's probably too cheap. Then of course I'd need about $10 million insurance to cover me against someone electrocuting themselves.
