Bob's post above is just too funny. This is what I found about the Pon Tunes Charles mentions.

Or  Charles, if you are into spending money, you can go to Ginko and buy one of their boxes loaded with balls and a plinth on top.  Then go to Herbie's site and buy his balls, which are supposedly superior to Ginko's.

Or not.

BobM

Or do what I did.

- get a butcher block cutting board at Ikea @ $10
- get 2 sets of squash balls @ $5 for 3 balls

Wallah - home made Ginko Cloud for less than $20

They are the grey cylinders under this boat that help it to float.

To use them effectively in an audio system, first you need to fill your pool with water and eject the kids. Make a raft of several of these. Put your CD player on the raft (get Pete to build you a long waterproof power cord and set of interconnects). Don't let anyone jump into the pool while playing music.

They are very effective I've found.

Don't forget the power conditioner

Leather or Cork turntable mat.

Turntable weight.

Unfortunately my speakers have to sit on the same shelf as the rest of my gear (I know....it blows....just no room for stands) so I had to come up with some isolation on-the-shelf stands for them. I got a couple of 8x8 cutting boards on Amazon and bought some of those IsolateIt! Sorbothane 1.5 inch nubs (also on Amazon) and attached them in a triangle to the bottom of the boards. Used some bluetack to keep the speakers in place and add additional vibration absortion. HUGE. Bass tightened, more clarity in the mids and highs, more precise soundstage. Gonna do the same thing for the turntable.

Of the many many tweaks in my system, I would highlight Acoustic Revive's RR-888 Ultra Low-Frequency Pulse Generator. Not only does this Schumann Resonance widen the sound stage and sharpen video in my A/V system, I feel at ease when it's on. I feel there's a health benefit happening here. I actually own the original RR-77 with a KingRex power supply but I've read the 3rd generation RR-888 has 4 times the strength of the RR-77. Makes me wish I wasn't retired and unable to afford upgrading my tweaks.  :duh  :drool:

And that's my truth. :thumb:

Cheers,
Robin

Gotta give the Acoustic Revive RR-888 another shoutout as I just picked up a used one from David Weinhart, got it yesterday and this little thing is blowing my mind! My soundstage depth has grown exponentially, enough so that I'd find it impossible that anyone wouldn't be able to pick up it's presence. That wasn't the case with the RR-77 that I took to a NY Rave, Toprounds I think, and there were a number of guys who couldn't tell the difference.

I now have  2 Ultra Low-Frequency Pulse Generator's, 1 being 4 times more powerful than the other and their effects are as clear as black & white. They have even intensified the clarity of my ISF calibrated Panny ST60 plasma that has a Darbee Darblet with an upgraded power supply connected to it. With the  upgraded power supply, I was able to boost it processing from 60% to 90%. But now with the RR-888 added, the picture sharpen up to the point that the picture now looked over processed so I had to lower the Darbee back to 60%. But the true benefit is the 3D sound stage depth that's realized,,, a sweet thing indeed ( or as Charles/Rollo would say, "oh my".  :thumb:

Oh, and my second set of Blue Aromatherapy salt lamps w/dimmer switches (so they don't wash out my plasma) are in the mail for the tops of my rear channel Odyssey Lorelei's. As much as I love the 2 blue salt lamps that grace the top of my main Lorelei's, I'm really looking forward to having 4 salt lamps in my 1' x 17' x 7' room. The fact that the days are getting longer and the nights shorts truly sucks for this consument nightowl. But regardless, the lamps & RR's will be on 24/7 til the day I die.

For stereonut's wellbeing;

Cheers,
Robin

Thanks, Robin!  Although, my "pix comment" was pointed more towards IPL's home-brew speaker isolation stands that can't be found on a web search the way a manufactured consumer piece like your RR-888 can.  Nonetheless, I enjoyed your pic! :thumb:

Experimentation update;

I've been playing around with placement, seeing how the RR-888 came with instructions, something that was missing with the original RR-77. From the internet, I knew these units needed to be placed at least 5 feet off the floor, don't sit them on top of components and don't plug them into the same outlets as the audio gear. Seeing how my 5' six shelf Sanus rack sits behind my left loudspeaker, I built up a perch on the top shelf which placed the RR-77 over 6' high and above all my audio gear. This placement worked great of my RR-77. Well the first thing I did when getting the RR-888 was replace the RR-77 with it as I'm also using a Kingrex power supply there. Well the results for the audio were staggering and the video, well I already went through that. But now I'm reading the instructions and underlined is the comment to keep the RR-888 at least 3 feet away from audio components while mine sits directly above all my A/V gear. I had placed the RR-77 on the wall behind my chair. So I switched the 2 boxes,,, got that more powerful RR-888 on the opposite end of the room from my gear and there was no difference in the increased soundstage depth BUT the video was a different ballgame. I ended up boosting the Darbee processing back to 90% and not only does the picture not look over processed, the overall sharpness has never looked better, huge improvement.

So from this, I'm building 2 shelves near the ceiling on opposite walls and well away from my system. While it was well known that you don't set these boxes on top of an audio component, this is the first time I've read anything stating to keep them at least 3 feet away from components. Nice to know..... :D

Robin

  Now that's balls :rofl:. No need tennis balls or just those blue handballs are god enough.
  The Pon-Tunes came as an integral part of my amp design. Had no clue as what the Pon-Tunes were. Tried more and to my surprise a good thing. They will open up the sound stage with more clarity and focus.
  No matter what you use the goal is to remove and dissipate vibration by draining such. Isolating by decoupling and draining is the whole deal.
  If the material "Ultum" was more affordable used as a plinth it has the fasted dissipation factor of all materials.

A little tough to see the feet but you get the idea. Vibrations are virtually eliminated from the record shelf.
