Notes:

- there is some distortion for the first few seconds, prior to "Shake Your Tambourine"
- partial dropout in "Big Chief" repaired, which gives rise to a small amount of hiss
- tape flip near start of "My Blood" crossfaded

Comments:

The show seems a little short, it is possibly incomplete.  Noticeably, there is no encore present.

"Mountain Aire Music Festival"

OldNeumanntapr Notes-
This was a trade DAT that I had in my collection from many moons ago, from who I remember not at all. I almost went to this show except for three things:
1. I was poor and had already recorded some Dead shows that year and had plans for some other ones in the Bay Area.
2. It was REALLY HOT that weekend and I don't do well in the heat.
3. Since the show was a festival, taping was not allowed and I had not yet begun to record stealth.
My folks bought a cabin about 15 miles east of Angels Camp almost 10 years after this show took place. If they had owned it at the time I would have definitely made more of an attempt to be there.
Thanks to Flying M for his expertise making this as good as it could possibly be, and for helping me with timings for the track splits.

Flying M Notes-
I took out a lot of small noises, ticks, pops, clunks and clapping even though it is a soundboard.
Fixed a couple bad dropouts where there was digital chatter and a couple more with just short gaps.
Now you would never know that the recording had been damaged there.

Follows how you tracked this show but this time I just separated all of the songs instead of just most.
Tracked out a "Soul Sacrifice (reprise)" that wasn't noted before.
Hope my efforts are worthy of this gem and thanks for letting me mess with it.

Do NOT Convert To MP3.
Enjoy! Share freely, don't sell, play nice, don't run with scissors, etc. ;)

*This recording is by no means perfect, though the sound quality is really good,
*but I haven't heard anything else so until I can uncover something better,
*this is all I have.

Notes:
-t04 3:27-3:34 level fluctuations
-t05 1:53-1:54 level fluctuations
-t06 diginoise at very beginning
-t07 some minor skipping
-t08 recording problems at end during banter (not narration)
-t09 recording cuts at 8:21 - on all copies that I have seen

-During very quiet sections, it seems that background music can be heard --
either there was music in the background at the show or the taper did
not use a new tape, so there was bleeding from a previous recording.
Who knows, maybe there is a lost recording underneath this show. :-)

Fixes:
-Applied SF4.5 Pitch Shift at a setting of -80 cents to all tracks to
compensate for the sped up recording.
-Retracked entire show so the beginning of the music starts at the beginning
of each track.

Plug Your Ears lists these shows' sources as:

audio: audience recording; 25 minutes, very good quality (1-3)
audio: audience recording; 90 minutes, very good quality (1-15)

The Arhus show is probably the best sounding audience tape for any Hendrix show.  The next day's show in Copenhagen is one of 4 known sources to circulate.  PYE lists 5 sources, but most people "in the know" that Ive talked with only know of 4 sources.  This is the "old source" as it is known in trader's circles.  There is a second complete source also circulating, the quality is not as good as this one.  Two incomplete sources exist, but only one of those circulates.  The one that doesnt circulate has superior quality to the "old source", but is under a no trade restriction with those that have it.  Maybe one day it will work its way out to the rest of us.

The Arhus show has been speed corrected.  Tracks 1-10 of the Copenhagen show have been speed corrected as "best as possible".  There are fluctuations in speed which have been mostly corrected, but some are too jarring to deal with.

The Arhus was transferred from a DAT clone of the master tape, as was Copenhagen.

This recording is a restoration of this concert from an audience recording along with elements of the radio broadcast mix of the show. This master leans heavily on the audience recording. The sound here is of an audience recording at all times including in the VIP section. Many parts of course are only the audience recording. The restoration and presentation of elements of the broadcast mix is only possible now that this audience recording has surfaced. Special thanks to Gerard for capturing and preserving this most unique show and to Philippe for coordinating this and setting the bar with the initial release! Finally, none of this would be possible without the tireless and extraordinary effort of Neonknight for all his work in coordinating this project as well as archivist and transfer engineer for the best copies of the broadcast recordings.

And next  is the Apology#1. The Apology #2 is on an official release, the Complete Hank Williams. Apology#1 is not. In the liner notes for the box set it clearly states an Apology was recorded for Baltimore and that is Apology #1. Apology#2 which was one the box set was tapped for Washington DC. Please enjoy these. Thanks to a overseas friend who sent these to me. I've lost his name and addy, so whomever who are thanks to you for these treasures.
