Arthur Fiedler at his best along with a Direct to Disc recording in Boston's Symphony Hall. "Audiophile" recordings are infamous for proving great SQ of mediocre music or musical performances. Well this one hits the trifecta. Fiedler and the Pops turn in a masterful performance of these two great works and the direct to disc process captures every nuance of not only the music but also the great venue that it was recorded in. 

Without a doubt my favorite Capriccio.

Good one Ken! 5th is considered one of his best masterpieces. The 1st is his middle finger to all the classical elitist snobs of the 20s who thought he was the Billy Idol of composers at the time. It is cliched and deliberately amusing, but still innovative and addictive. I am always sad when it ends too soon. It was deliberately short to show that it is not his preferred style, just long enough to demonstrate that he could write traditional classical music but chooses not to.
