This is my favorite Miles album from the Wayne Shorter era. It has a lot of up tempo solid blowing, strong bop melodies, very sophisticated harmonies, very strong Shorter influence. I like Blakey's records best with Shorter as music director also. I like Shorter's records but not as much as when he was with these two creative dynamos.

The performance gets 4.5 out of 5 stars.  The sound quality gets 5 out of 5 stars.  It's an amazing record.

Just received this from Amazon today.  I just finished listening to the 4th Symphony.  As expected it's a something of a stormy ride, which suits my preferences quite well, though the mid 1st movement waltz doesn't come off quite as lyrical as it really should.  The tempi seem a bit on the brisk side to me, but not too fast by any stretch.  Not the best 4th in my view (that distinction is held by Bernstein and the NPO), but a damn fine one overall.
