Track One is 'Miserere' by Gregorio Allegri. It has been recorded many times. It is the 'Stairway to Heaven' for church choirs. I have two versions of it, this is the better. There is another that I heard on the radio a few months ago from 1963 English choir that blows the roof off:

Last CD before the ball drops



This is his 1954 Schubert Bflat Sonata. He did it again in 2004 (album "Two Hands") after not playing much for 40 years due to hand problems. The newer version is better, showing the wisdom he had accumulated teaching and coaching young musicians all that time.

Fantastic sound on this one. Typical groovin Dollar Brand. Relaxed, sophisticated but swingin jazz, not bebop. Simple at times, but nice originals. The sound is dynamite. Big piano, big space, good dynamics, crystal clear.
