Command Classics Gold Label stereo LP.  Sourced from a 35mm magnetic film recording, the sound quality just doesn't get any better than this.  But a few of the performances fall a little short.  Ride of the Valkyries was especially hampered by a lack of presence in the horns.  Rather than drive this piece, as they do in the Solti and Karajan readings, they sort of bring up the rear in this one.  The strings and woodwinds dominate, and it isn't to my liking.  Though someone else might think it brilliant.

All said it's a good listen, but I think William Steinberg and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra turned in much better readings of Beethoven and especially Brahms (the Steinberg Brahms Symphony No. 3 on Command Classics is perhaps the best reading of that work I have heard, and I own about 10 different recordings of it).
