I'm trying to evaluate if SHM-CDs from Japan are worth the investment.

So far in my headphone set-up the answer is yes for this album. Will try to dig up the older CD from somewhere in my garage to do a comparison tomorrow.

Big hits from pre-WW2 when life was easy and light.

Columbia mono LP printed 1973. I got it about 5 years later.

This is the original issued LP, which was a studio re-recording of the previous night's historic concert, plus lots of editing and overdubbing the applause. The original live concert recording has been released recently on CD. It' supposed to be great, not heard it yet...

This LP is a great performance too, in studio. Great playing, solos, arrangements. This is the one I grew up with.  The sound is funky though, as they tried to make it stereo. The overdubbed voices and cheering is tacky when you know what it is... Ignorance is bliss!

Yossou N' Dour - Set- 1990

N'Dour's first worldwide release (after a long career in Senegal and Africa).  Brilliant musicianship including African rhythms, fabulous bright guitar work, smokin' hot horns, and even a cut featuring a somber yet beautiful cello and violin pairing.  

My favorite record by which to clean the house.  I only learned later that "Set" means "Clean" in N' Dour's native language, Serer.
