This album is suffering from a serious case of "Bostonitus". Every song sounds the same. Loved his first comeback album (An Other Cup), but IMO, his stuff has been on a downward slide since then.

Glad I got this one from the library before committing $$ to it.

The Mephisto album was released by RR in 1998 and up until a month or so ago was only available on CD (which many of us already have and are very familar with.). But this new 45 RPM vinyl version (pressed at Chad's QRP plant) really takes it to a new level.

Highly recommended. Get it while you can.

A long time audiophile favorite, I pulled this out to compare the Night on Bald Mountain on this and the Mephisto LP I just got. Well I'm sorry folks but it was not even close. The Mephisto version walked all over it. Not only were the sonics better ion every way, but I like the Oue preformance of the piece much better as well. Of listening to the Power version I remembered why it had been sitting on the shelf so long. I find the pacing of Leibowitz reading very rushed, to the point where I feel it even changes the emotional impact of the music.
