Frederick Fennell, who, along with Arthur Fiedler, I consider to be one of the masters of the "Pops" genre leads the Dallas Symphony Winds in a great performance. Combine this with the superb SQ we have come to expect from Keith Johnson and Reference Recordings and you come up with one very enjoyable album. 

BTW, looking through the Tidal catalog I have come to discover that they have almost the entire Reference Recording catalog in their streaming library. Sweet.

Recorded over three consecutive nights in December of 2014, Live at the Village Vanguard showcases bassist Christian McBride and his trio in concert at the storied New York venue. A four-time Grammy winner, McBride has been a superstar in the jazz world since debuting as a teenager in the late '80s. Here, McBride is joined by his trio bandmates, pianist Christian Sands and drummer Ulysses Owens, Jr. This is the same outfit that recorded the swinging, sophisticated 2013 studio album Out Here. As with that release, Live at the Village Vanguard finds McBride diving headlong into a set of swaggering, lively standards, originals, and unexpected covers, including a take on the theme to the cult '70s comedy film Car Wash.

I saw this in the library and just couldn't resist. It is exactly what you would think it is from the title. Classic Rock hits played by a string quartet in the style of Mozart.

A fun library listen, but I am glad I didn't pay any significant money for it.  I already own enough CDs that I will probably not listen to a second time.
