It's not really an analog versus digital thing. Digital is way simpler. You asked the question, hence I answered it. The good part about digital is you don't need to know all that stuff all you need to do is have the file and play it. You don't have to care about the source of the recording, or the transfer of the recording, or anything else. The only concern you have is how good does it sound to you. 

Now if you prefer analog for other reasons that too can be valid. But even in the analog domain whether you're talking about vinyl or whether you're talking about magnetic tape the same questions can be raised as to the source of the music and how it ultimately made its way onto the vinyl or ultimately made its way onto the  tape. For instance if it's a live or studio recording, even if you're listening to it in an analog format, say on LPS or as you state vinyl,  you might want to know what microphone was used, etc.

Well, truth told, I have gone down that rabbit hole a bit.  When I was really building my jazz and classical collection, I was very aware of recording engineers, which stampers, etc.  I used to peruse Ebay  searching for "Victrola 1s".  The plum label Victrola pressings were the equals of RCA shaded dogs, but only bringing 1/3 the price.  Find a first stamper of a top recorded performance, and you've got that classic RCA sound on the cheap.

The Mercury Living Presence bargains were the Dutch "Golden Import" repressings that were far superior sounding to the original US pressings.... but were completely ignored by collectors. 

In jazz, I looked for the French DMM Blue Notes from the 1980's.  Again, the critics blasted them, but to my ears they were superior to the American Blue Notes of the '70s but not quite what the pressing from '57-'66
