Vol. 2 the best of Wes Mongomery
Original Verve Vinyl

Pulled this one out of the dollar bin and was disappointed to find that even after cleaning on the VPI machine it still haqd much more surface noise that I would have expected given its visual appearence.  :(

You can't win them all.

I wish I had a $1 for every $1 bin record like that

But if you had those dollars you would just use them to buy more dollar bin records!  #-o

You're right of course      :thumb:

stereofool gave me this record. I love it.

A real jazz singer in the old tradition of vocal skill and humility, rarities among the modern divas.

I never saw it before either. I'd like to take credit for it, but I can't. My son found it on our trip to PREX last week.  :thumb:

Makes a Dad proud, the first time your son skunks you on a rare piece of vinyl. 8)

Nice find Rich.  :thumb: I pick this up at the library to night and your assessment is right on. This is really a great disc. I didn't know until I read the liner notes that she is a local Long Island girl.

While I was there I found two more of her albums.Never Never Land was released by N_Coded Music one year before Come Dream with Me. It is also a very nice album, both musically and sonically.

The third album is a 2004 Sony release entitled Taking a Chance on Love

While this was also nice from a musical perspective, IMO it fell a little short in the SQ department. I was a bit on the rough side and the vocal peaks sound like they are overloading the mixing board.  :(

Requested that a few more of her alms be sent to my branch on interloan form some other libraries. none of the other albums are from Sony (Concord & Emarcy) so I am hopeful the the SQ is back up to snuff on them.  [-o<

Peter Elman: Durango Saloon

Another nice find from the Crack House. This is a CD I would not have looked at twice, and only picked it up because it was part of a Crack House 69 cent bag and I wanted something else that was in the bag. Turns out to be a really nice album. SQ is not outstanding, but it is good enough so as not to detract from enjoying the music

Alan Bechtold of Digital Online Review said the following:
If Hill Street Blues had been a television show about the Texas Rangers, this album would have been the perfect theme music. It's an album I wanted to dislike, because it's so unlike any music I usually enjoy but I loved it. It's western music, not country. Pure instrumental Americana through and through. In fact, it's such joyful, pure music that anyone of any age could easily tap his or her toes happily to every track. Don't get me wrong--the average headbanger hooked on metal and nothing else won't get any joy from this album. But nearly everyone else will. Peter Elman's kind of stuff you could put on at a cocktail party and never interrupt the chatter while it powers the evening along, almost subliminally.
