Just got this at the crackhouse, haven't had a chance to clean it yet, is it worth the effort?

One of the best violin concertos, played by one of the best soloists, on one of the best record labels. I suppose you got that for $0.69?  :mrgreen:

I was in Goodwill buying dress shoes for my son yesterday (he needs them for a Bar Mitzvah and will outgrow them in a week.) I took a glance at the vinyl and picked out some interesting stuff. At the cashier they wanted $1 per disc so I passed. I guess that's not bad, but they have not been checked and no guarantee that they'll play. Are the crack house discs guaranteed to play? Are the cleaned? Are they just random trash, buyer beware?

My wife and I gave up on TV to come down and listen. I asked what do you want to hear?" She says, "anything but that Chinese crap you had on when I came home." Yes dear...

On original Columbia vinyl I got for Christmas in 1977. It has fared much better than my Kind Of Blue of same vintage.

$1

Eleazar can break down the pricing better for rock.

All classical, be it 1 album, or a complete boxed set of LVB's 9 symphonies, ( I have like 5 versions of all 9), are a whopping $1.

Caveat Emptor rules the day, though Cracky the vinyl dealer does provide a few operational TTs with headphones, so you can check it before you buy it.

Washed - nah.

Jazz from $1 to $20, with a deep grove The Sidewinder on the wall for $100, I lust after it, but will never buy it.

Heifitz must be in a box in the garage still, going to clean this and give it a shot;

Yehudi Menuhin/Brahms Concerto in D, Op. 77 for Violin and Orchestra/Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Wilhelm Furtwangler, Conducter, rec. 1949

This one is my favorite Brahms concerto:

on CD. A brief pause from vinyl.

Wow, if I didn't just walk past her in the living room I would swear that my wife was down there visiting with you.  :rofl:

I don't know about where Bill & Gene shop, but up here all the Crack House LPs are guaranteed to be is 69 cents. It is pretty easy to pick out the ones that the previous owner gave to his cat for a scratching post and after a while you get an eye for what has a high probability of playing well. Every once in a while you get one that looks good but plays like cr@p, but at $0.69 cents you can afford to toss one occasionally.

I would think so, but..............

No buts about it in my book. Anything with either Heifitz or Reiner is worth the effort in my book.  :thumb:
