British Rock

CD

These songs may be by the original Artists, but they are not the original recordings. Rather they are new recordings and arrangements done by a bunch of aging British rockers. Pass this one by. (and I am very glad I only paid 49 cents for it.)

Tom I got snagged by a CD like this 20 years ago. Since then I always read the fine print on the back

Lee Ritenour: Stolen Moments

CD

One of the most Un-GRP sounding GRP CDs I have ever heard. Does not have the dynamic GRP house sound, but rather sounds more like some of the direct-to-disc albums Ritenour did for EastWind records. I really liked  it.

So, does this have the song 'Stolen Moments' on it? Love that tune, already have 2 versions of it, could go for a third.

Jerome - Were the Firebird and the Bordin both 45 RPMs as well?

They are original London pressings, Tom.  I recently acquired a small minty collection of London ffss originals for not a lot of money and these were among them.

My approach to the London 45 RPM reissues is that I will buy them if I don't already have a minty original or a high quality reissue on 180g vinyl.  One of the ORG 45 London reissues (Espana) was pressed by Speakers Corner on 180g vinyl on a Decca reissue.  I already own the latter and it is definitely a showcase quality recording.  But it isn't something I play very frequently, so I passed on buying the 45.

This is a ORG reissue on two 45 RPM 180g LPs.  The performance and the recording took my breath away.  Tom, if you're a fan of De Falla you owe it to yourself to hear this one.  Highly recommended!

You're right and I usually do, but in the frenzy of the 49 cent sale I was just tossing into the basket anything that might have been remotely interesting and this one slipped by me. Had I noticed the phrase "All New Stereo Recordings" in the fine print I would have tossed it back. But I heard about the sale at the last minute and had to make it a quick run through in order to make it to work on time. Like I said.. it was only 49 cents.
