I recently snagged nearly all of Duke Ellington's 1950s releases on minty original Columbia 6 Eye mono pressings.  This is a big deal for me.  Most of these albums were originally recorded and mixed in mono.  Blues in Orbit had seperate stereo and mono mixes, being recorded in late 1958 and early 1959.  I have the Classic Records 200g reissue and the Classic Records 45 RPM 180g reissue of this title, both of which are in stereo.  On the reissues there is a tiny imperfection near the end of C Jam Blues on side one, almost like a tape splice.  It is hard to hear unless you are listening for it.  The reissues sound really nice and I am happey to have them, so don't get me wrong.  But I have long wanted these albums in mono to compare.  This particular original 6 Eye sample is absolutely perfect.  It has new vinyl shine on both sides.  The labels are like new.  The sound is truely spectacular, and the C Jam Blues blip on the reissues is not present on this original pressing.  The jacket is very nice with no seam splits and only a little bit of discoloration.  I paid $18 for this record and would have happily paid a lot more for it.

Here's another one that is equally nice.
