Analogue Productions 180g 45RPM vinyl reissue.  Eric Dolphy was an incredible jazz talent who reached a somewhat limited audience thanks to his avant garde leanings.  Outward Bound, while touching on the atonal here and there is probably Dolphy's most approachable work as leader.  This album features some traditional straight ahead jazz that is separated by tunes that are more freely improvised, but do not plumb the depths of musical chaos that Dolphy was noted for...especially in his live performances.

That lineup threatens to be brilliant. How is it?

I consider it to be McLean's best album for Blue Note and sonically one of the best recordings that Van Gelder ever made.  I can't comment on any other format but the Analogue Productions 45RPM vinyl is a revelation.  I also have it on CD but haven't listened to it in years.

I don't have the 45rpm lp, but I do have the RVG edition cd, think I'll put it on now while I box the last decorations. It is a good lineup.

Analogue Productions 180g 45RPM vinyl reissue.  This is my favorite Coltrane album on Impulse!  It's adventurous, it's dissonant, and it's absolutely brilliant IMO.  It would be one of the last records that Coltrane made before he would lose himself in atonality.  If your interests in jazz don't venture too far from bop, traditional, or post-bop then this album probably isn't for you.

Analogue Productions 180g 45RPM vinyl reissue.  At $75 this title is more expensive than the other LPs in the 45RPM Nat King Cole reissue series, because it comes on 3 180g records.  No need to ask me if it's worth it.  I had the very good fortune of coming into a complete collection of Cole's original Capitol Records pressings through an estate sale.  I prefer this reissue to the original.
