I'm happy with the last load, about 20 discs of this caliber. It's been 6 months since last visit, time to check it again, and there's another one a little further away. $1/disc isn't as cheap as the crack house junk bin, but pretty good considering we are 'outna-conn-tree.'

There are some real record stores in Raleigh and Durham proper, but I've not visited them yet.

Close enough. The normal price for LPs in the Crack House is 69 cents. And they do run  25 and 50% off sale days, but even at its cheapest I don't think price is the real issue here. Realistically, are there really many (or even any) albums that you would be interested enough in to buy for 35 cents  that you would pass up if the price was a dollar?  Record shopping at the Crack House is not really about price and getting a bargain, it more about the thrill of the hunt. When you find a great record for a dollar at one of these places the most important word in the sentence is "find", not "dollar". It is kind of like bringing home a rescue dog. There is a certain sense of accomplishment in bringing home a rare musical gem that would have otherwise been heading for the trash bin. (We are a wacky bunch , aren't we?  :D )
Remember, it's all about the music........

My favorite is Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come--Journey

Have you heard any Vincent Crane or Atomic Rooster?  Crane was an original member of Brown's group.  He founded Atomic Rooster...also great stuff in the Brownian vein.

Jenny and Johnny--I'm Having Fun Now

Retro folk/rock from Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley and Johnathan Rice, a solo and session man who has played and toured with Elvis Costello. Hints of the Everly Brothers, Fairport Convention and others.
