I know who Arlo Guthrie is and Alice's Restaurant as well, but can't figure out the significance of 12 noon.  Google repeatedly mentions 12 noon, but not it's significance. Can you fill me in?

I don't know how it got started, but at least in NY quite a few of the classic rock stations play Alice's Restaurant at Noon on Thanksgiving Day. (I. of course, choose to spin my own vinyl copy instead. 

I think it may have to do with the fact that the TV coverage of the Macy's parade runs until noon and then a lot of people just turn on the radio.
