Walt Disney and the 1964 World's Fair



Walt Disney Records 5 CD Box Set

My wife is a big fan of It's a Small World and this set has an entire CD dedicated to that ride so I jumped all over this when I saw it at a garage sale this afternoon.

I was only a preschooler during the years of the fair, but this still brings back memories of the two trips I made there with my parents.

I paid $1 for this set and it was still sealed in the shrink wrap. I was looking for the album art to put in this post the only place I saw on line that had any for sale was Amazon, and they were asking $300  for it!!!!   OUCH 

And yes, I found this out after I had opened the set to play it for my wife.   

And like most Disney recordings that I have heard this one really has some top shelf SQ. Disney never goes half way on anything.

When I was a youngster, I would watch The Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday night on NBC. Having lived in California for many years, i'm very familiar with the Mr. Lincoln exhibit and It's a Small World. The last time I was in Disneyland was during the Christmas season a couple of years ago. The It's a Small World ride was decorated especially beautifully for the holidays and it's also the only time that I'd ever attended during the Christmas season. Being there with family made that visit the most memorable ever.

Recorded live during the band's 40th Anniversary Tour.

Got a free set of tickets from Tidal and went to the opening show of this tour with StereoNut. No seats, but our standing room spots were in the second row about 10 feet right of dead center.


The show was in a small  Long Island clubs that was the first place that the band auditioned for a paying gig when they were in high school. After listening to them the owner turned them down, saying that nobody would want to listen to that rockabilly stuff.  Kicking of their 40th anniversary tour in that club was the boy's way of saying FU to that owner.
