Quote from: S Clark on January 07, 2026, 04:51:09 AMWell, if you are interested in the ST-70 style amp, I own the K&K variation described here...
https://www.dagogo.com/the-kk-audio-st70-boards-part-1-of-3/

This amp came to me a few years back when I did some repairs for a guy, and took the amp as payment.
At the time, Dave recommended K&K boards, and the iron is much higher end than the original Dynaco.
The problem is, I don't need it.  It's on my desk behind my computer as I type. If you are really serious about a Dynaco type amp, this might be what you are looking for.

Scott,

Thats a very interesting option. I have heard of K and K and don't recall ever reading any negative comments about Kevin. Those look like KT 120 tubes. What other tubes can be used? KT 77s...EL 34s? Those transformers are all upgraded? Looks like all the connections are in the back and I'm assuming it has an IEC. If you can post a pic of the back, that would be great. Let me know here or via PM what you want for it. The only question is how close can it come to a maxxed out Miller version.

Ah... a bidding war!

The Lundahl transformers are a step up from the A470 Dyna tx.  The K&K amps are pretty much SOTA for that common platform.  The KT120 tubes are run in triode mode and are incredibly musical.

The amp can run 6L6, KT66, EL34, KT77, KT88, 6550, KT90 and KT120.  Pick yer' poison.

Thanks for the info, Dave. That's a lot of flexibility as to tubes. No bidding war yet, as I'm waiting on a price...

Scott came up with a good price, so no bidding war 🤭 The parts quality looks good, but I'm looking into better binding posts. I didn't read anything about how to bias a K & K ST 70 amp. So this amp and the Miller version would be my top two ST 70 choices.

Chris Keller Dynaco ST-70 on my Zu Audio Dirty Weekends.   Sounds really nice.    :thumb:

No experience with other ST-70 versions, so I can't compare.

Thanks, John. That's a nice looking unit. My amp search has one less candidate as the business I was considering is either shutting down or in the process of being sold and the proprietor would not accept an order. So right now I'm down to an ST 70 ...not sure which version... and a highly modded Willsenton R8 integrated that I'm still waiting for specific information and photos.

I should probably do a new post just on my search for a tube amp

You've likely already seen it, but if not, be sure to check out the Skunkie YT channel.   The tech there has many vids on the R8, its weaknesses, and the required mods.

Look forward to hearing about your progress.    :thumb:
