I ordered a T8 about a week ago, and received it a couple days later. It's in my system and playing my Tidal music. It's so nice to be able to stream again. [I had been using an aging (2012) iMAC as my source, but I can no longer update its OS, so that's sitting in a corner doing nothing.] Between my flying off to Taiwan and driving on multi-month roadtrips, I barely even listened to my system.

Anyway, it's in my system and burning in. For now, I'm only using it to stream my saved Tidal lists and favorite musicians.I ordered a 4TB DDR card to place inside my T8 to load a bunch of my HDD based music. I hope to finish setting that up by Sunday or Monday.

I've read that the T8 needs some serious burn-in time (200 to 400 hours!) to sound its best, but I'm barely hitting 30 hrs. I'm delighted to be able to stream again.

I found the T8 to change pretty significantly over the first 150 or so hours as opposed to right out of the box. I put mine in a secondary system on Radio Paradise and just let it play 24/7 for seven days.  I haven't heard any real change in it after that. No need for anything else to be on. Similar break-in behavior to the Holo DACs.

Michael,
Congrats on getting back into streaming. The Eversolo has gotten a lot of good reviews. I am curious how it compares to my Holo Red which does a great job. Not sure what streamer I'd get if I wanted to upgrade.

I've been pretty busy this week, so I haven't gotten round to bypassing my tube preamp yet. Once I do that, I'll let her rip 24/7.

Nick,

I looked at the Holo Red and briefly considered it, but the T8 won out with its expandability. My 4TB card arrived, so I'll see how that goes in a couple days.

Michael,
I dont think I have internal storage on the Red. I doubt it as it's such a small device. If I upgrade, it might be an Auralic. But the performance with the Red, the Cyan2 dac and HQ Player upsampled to DSD 256 is a great sounding bargain.

The T8 works great with JPlay for Tidal, Qobuz, Internet Radio and a USB drive I have plugged in the back.  Listening to it now via JPlay into the La Scala Mk 3.

On the binding post purchase if you buy the amp from Steve, your best bet is likely the Klei Classic Harmony from Parts Connexion if you're comfortable doing it yourself.  I would likely just try the ones on it for a start and see what they are.

Jack,

Looks like I missed your post recently. You and I have discussed privately what's going on with my amp search. But I'll update the members here as well.

It looks like Scott Clark's ST 70 K & K version won't work because it runs in class A and operates at less than 30 W per channel. After discussing with Scott, we both felt it wasn't a good match for my JMReynaud speakers. You had suggested I look into Underwood hi-fi as Walter's products appear to be well-made and are good bang for the buck. Cameron from spiritual sound also mentioned the Willsenton R8 that a friend of his has that has had a lot of upgrades. I don't have that information or photos yet. Both of these tube amps I am looking into are integrateds. The Hattor is a great preamp and so I would only use the amplifier section of any integrated I might buy.

I think you would be fine with either option and in your room both should drive the Voce Grande's to as high a volume as you can tollerate.  I recently broke out my Mystere EL-34 tube amp for the Winter months and have be pleasently suprised how easily it has driven the Qualio IQ Ultra's in my larger room addition.  Later this morning I will substitute in my pair of Reynaud monitors with similar requirements as your VG's and I suspect they will be an even easier load than the Qualio's.  While on it's own the tube amp doesn't provide the bass drive that the larger powered SS amps do the four Rythmik F-12's make up for that. I may have to break out the little Music Reference RM-10 next and see how it does.

I owned the R8 for about a year and moved on. On Youtube Skunkie did tons of mods to make it better.

I am still in the information gathering stage. Don't have any info or pics yet on that highly modded R8

Bass response isn't a priority for me and my Voce Grande 2 ways are fine with a response down to 38Hz. I tried the dual subwoofer thing as you know and it just didn't work for me for a number of reasons. Let me know how the match goes with your other JMR speakers. How nice that you have that RM 10
