It was recorded in full screen, but when it was uploaded to youtube it came out like that. Uploading to youtube is very easy.

I dont like tje sound with the Orxhard Mono 25 plugged into the Uber. That will stay in the Puritan Labs. The Pass just sounds so right. But you know me?I like to swap amps out every few weeks

Nearly and here's what I am considering.... I will be getting an ultra low noise 5v lps for the iFi optical converter and am thinking about trying an ethernet cable to replace the LINKUP between the TP Link mesh unit and the iFi. The cheap ethernet cable I had obscured a lot of detail and air. The LINKUP is quite an improvement and I am curious if I can get a bit more performance with another cable.

If your curiousity compels you to try something more than the Link Up cable you just bought I would just order the Freedom Ethernet cable from Pete and see if you hear any difference. He still has a 30 day return policy.

What I am especially hoping to improve is the resonance/timbre of vocals and especially instruments. That element has always been lacking in my system. The inexpensive UPLINK ethernet that Jack and Evan recommended really improved that and I want more.

That type of reproduction in a system is hard to find... Have heard it on occasion.

While I suspect based on my experience with the Orchard amps and the Reynaud AMT tweeter that the introduction of the Elvis tube amp took you closer to what you are looking for I'm not sure you are going to get to where you want to go with a SS preamp and changing an Ethernet cable. I know that when I periodically put the Holo Serene KTE SS preamp back in the system that "timbre" is the first thing that goes away no matter how "accurate" the sound becomes. To my ears that "timbre" you are looking for will come from a tube preamp before it comes from anything else with AMT tweeters. Again just my opinion from 5o+ years of experience.

Shoot, I was hoping you wouldn't say that. The solid state Hattor pre is terrific and better than the tube Supratek Chardonnay. Those are the two best preamps I've owned. Getting into an Aric would be pricy and take a while. I like Holger's amp a lot, but don't know much about his tube preamps. The lps for the iFi is worth getting as it's inexpensive. I will likely try 1 or 2 ethernet cables and hope it can bring a little more of what the UPLINK provided.

Actually from looking at the Erhard reviews it's the preamps that get the most accolades and have the lower price points. This is the one that would fit what you need. I've discussed the preamps with him several times but for now I don't need another one. Unfortunately as good as Aric's preamps are they are at least twice as expensive with a six month wait time.
