Rodriguez ~ Cold Fact

QuoteCold Fact is the debut album from American singer-songwriter Rodriguez. It was released in the United States on the Sussex label in March 1970. The album sold very poorly in the United States (Rodriguez was himself an unknown in the U.S.), but managed to sell well in both South Africa and Australia, with Rodriguez touring Australia in 1979.

The Beatles: Abbey Road

Toshiba Pro Use CD (Japanese Import)

This was the first ever authorized Beatles CD, released in Japan in 1983 by Toshiba-EMI (CP35-3016). The limited pressing disc was licensed only for domestic sale in Japan, but quickly made its way to the U.S. and was available nationally for a short time in several stores, including the Tower Records chain.Upon learning it was being sold outside of Japan EMI cancelled their contract with Toshiba causing the CD to be withdrawn from the market.

I bought my copy at tower the first time I laid eyes on it and it is a good thing I did, because by the time I returned two weeks later they had been all pulled from the shelves. For the next four years the few copies that did get pressed were the only Beatle CDs on the planet. (Remember at this time CD burners did not exist, heck PCs did not even exist yet, and CD production capacity was still very small and pretty much all taken up by the major labels, so bootleg CDs had not yet hit the scene.)

Even though this was a very early CD it still had excellent SQ and IMO was significantly better than the Capital version released in 1987. Even today with all of the advances made in digital audio I feel that the 2009 stereo remaster release is only slightly better than the 1983 Toshiba.

At the same time Toshiba released Abbey road they also released Dark Side of the Moon.

Although it also made it into the US market EMI never got that upset about it, probably because DSOTM was soon after released domestically in the US and UK so the Toshiba version was not as exclusive. As a result, the Toshiba DSOTM was easier to get your hands on.

I am sure that it will come as no shock to any of you that I was the first one on the block to get one of these back in 1983.  |:D|

This is what I am streaming right now. Great stuff. Here is a link

http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/668-fink-rco-astounding-album-app-experience/

Amazon offers 5 of his albums via Prime Streaming, unfortunately this is not one of them. But the samples sounded good so I think I will have to check out the ones they have via my Amazon Echo.

Thanks for sharing Evan. Glad to have you back on board. I am always on the prowl for good new artist (even if they are just new to me)

See, there really is some socially redeeming value to this thread.

We are loving it.

You must be psychic, as I was in the middle of starting a new thread about it when your post came in.

Lew Tabackin : Tenority

Concord CD

I first ran across Lew Tabackin  when he released a 45 RPM Direct to Disc LP for RCA Japan in the late 70s.

Nice small acoustic jazz combo.
