I was scrolling through the Reference Recordings albums in the Tidal library when I came across this, which I felt was appropriate, given current events.

Andy Statman & David Grisman: Songs of Our Fathers

Acoustic Disc CD

An album of Traditional Jewish songs played by a bluegrass band. Interesting combination.

Given his propensity towards bluegrass and jug band music and his hillbilly looking beard I always assumed David Grisman grew up south of the Mason-Dixon line. I was very surprised to learn that he was actually raised in Hackensack  New Jersey in a conservative Jewish household.  (See what happens when you assume....)

He actually has a very interesting muscal bio which can be found in the following Wikipedia article:

The Ray Bryant Trio: Ray's Tribute to His Jazz Piano Friends

JVC 20 Bit K2 Super Coding CD

This is one kick ass acoustic jazz album. I am really liking this one. And I don't know if the K2 Super Coding has anything to do with it, but is has great sound as well.

Alexis Cole: Kisses in the Dark

Chesky Binaural Series CD

I listened to this both on the main system and through my headphone and have the same thoughts both ways. While this binaural recording does present the listener with a large sense of space, I feel the mix is way off. Alexis is simply too far from the binaural mikes and her voice gets lost in the accompaniment. The horns are much clearer and louder than her voice and that just should not be. And it is frustrating because the vocalist should always be highlighted in the mix and all that would have had to be done too accomplish this was to have her stand a few feet closer to the mic.  It's a shame, because otherwise it is a nice album.

But having the lead vocals lost in the sauce is a show stopper for me.

John Field: Piano Concertos 2&3 - John O'Connor, Piano, Charles Mackerras/Scottish Chamber Orchestra

Telarc CD

Has anyone else heard of this composer? Based the dates of his birth and death I would place him as a contemporary of Beethoven, and his work like sounds it.

Nice music. And of course coming from Telarc the CD is nice sounding.

A really good album. Listening to another of my favorite klezmer albums: Klezmer Conservatory Band - Dance Me To The End Of Love - with the most beautiful version of the title track (by Leonard Cohen) I've ever heard. I also heard them do it live at the old IMAC: great concert.
