Duke Ellington "Newport 1958" on Columbia CL1245 6 eye pressing.
By 1958 big bands were not the cool stuff anymore, and had lost most of there following... but Ellington was still relevant. Led by Johnny Hodges and Paul Gonsalves on sax, Shorty Baker and Clark Terry on trumpet, the virtuosity of his players was top drawer. And that's before you add Gerry Mulligan to the group. This is a great lp.

Creedence Clearwater Revival: Cosmo's Factory

This month marks the 50th anniversary of the release of this classic album.

In looking at the Wikipedia page about it what really amazed me is that 8 out of the 11 tracks on this album were recorded in June of 1970, just one month before the LP hit the streets.

Good morning, Nick. I'm watching and listening to the surf as I type. The weather has been really lovely (considering a hurricane hit down the coast a few days ago)... showers followed by scattered clouds and plenty of sun. Best of all, my daughter is getting a nice break from working in the Covid unit at her hospital.

Vi Redd, her first of only 2 albums she ever recorded as leader.
Bird Call (United Artists, 1962), has 10 tunes: 5 instrumentals, 1 was a vocal, and she both sang and played on 4 others.
Her sound on this album is very reminiscent of Charlie Parker, who would've been 100yrs old this year.
